Hybrid rocket motors use a solid fuel and a liquid oxidizer. Contrail motors use liquid nitrous oxide for oxidizer and have several fuel grain options.

And because the liquid oxidizer is loaded into the motor at the pad by remote control, Contrail motor components are not classified as hazardous materials, or even flammables. Contrail hybrid motors can be shipped without restriction anywhere in the USA and do not have to be stored in a magazine or under a permit or inspection.

Contrail rocket motors offer a wide range of thrust profiles because of our unique injector design; injector fittings are supplied with the reload kits, so the same motor casing can be used for six or eight different motors by using a graphite nozzle of the appropriate throat size. Different propellant formulas offer different thrust profiles, even a Sparky propellant. Hybrid motors are no longer limited to low thrust configurations.
